Board of Directors

 

The Jr. Blue Hens Board of Directors meets on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Rust Lounge.  Our meetings are open to MEMBERS ONLY. Members are families in good financial standing, with a currently rostered player (or players). Unfortunately, our meetings are not open to the general public.  Meeting minutes are available upon request.  To contact the JBH Board, you may email board@jrbluehens.org or click on any of the names below to email a specific board member.

Board Duties

President

Attend all DVHL President’s meetings (held in West Chester, PA); attend and preside over all Club meetings; oversee all operations of the Club ensuring that DVHL/USA Hockey policies are followed.

Vice President


Attend all monthly Club meetings; fill in for President when necessary; oversee preparation and distribution of monthly Practice calendars.

Secretary

Attend all monthly Club meetings; distribute monthly meeting agenda; document and distribute Meeting Minutes for all meetings of the Board.

Registrar


Attend all monthly Club meetings; distribute, collect, and submit all necessary paperwork to the DVHL, Atlantic District, and USA Hockey; send updates as required due to roster changes.  The Registrar is also responsible for distributing and collecting club background screenings and forwarding to the appropriate Organization.

Treasurer


Attend all monthly Club meetings; prepare yearly contracts; set up billing; ensure collection of fees; pay all Club bills; prepare financial reports; prepare and submit IRS filings.

Club Scheduler


Attend all monthly club meetings; attend required DVHL scheduler meeting (held in West Chester, PA); prepare and distribute club wide schedule; communicate changes to the schedule; communicate referee needs for all games.

DVHL Representative

Attend all monthly Club meetings; attend all Monthly DVHL Rep meetings (held in West Chester, PA) and report information back to Board.

Statistician

Attend all monthly Club meetings; obtain league score sheets, log into DVHL Score Board Web Application and mail scoresheets to DVHL.  The statistician is also responsible for training club score keepers with the PointStreak system that the DVHL uses in the score box at home games.

ACE (Association, Coaching and Education Programs) Coordinator

Attend all monthly Club meetings; attend all required ACE DVHL meetings (held in West Chester, PA); responsible for the continued development of club coaches, including making sure all USAH modules are up to date and filed with USAH.  ACE works with the coaches insuring that they have the proper paperwork for background screening; petitioning, player/goalie movement, match penalties etc.  ACE is also responsible for relaying any rule changes or updates from the DVHL and USAH to the coaches.  Responsible to make sure all teams are in compliance with the ADM. Responsible for recruitment of new coaches; schedules on/off ice skills, goalie and coaching clinics as the club approves; coordinates spring evaluations and summer practice ice; schedules and presides over monthly coaches meeting during the season and throughout the year as necessary. 

Public Relations/Webmaster


Attend all monthly Club meetings; coordinate marketing/advertising campaign for the club (includes website maintenance, facebook & twitter). Primary responsibilities include setting up the online registration for each season in the early spring, maintaining the club's website, and assisting the Board with communications to players and parents. Website responsibilities include keeping information, photos, pages and links up to date. In addition, the role involves publishing rosters, schedules, team pages, and supporting the Board's email communications to individuals, teams, age groups, or the entire club.  Our website is hosted by a third party vendor that specializes in building websites for youth athletic organizations, and the tools for updating and creating content are fairly straightforward. No website/software experience is needed.

Fundraising Coordinator

Attend all monthly club meetings; coordinate fundraisers and special activities.  The fundraiser coordinates picture night for the entire club; oversees team fundraisers to make sure they are in order with the standards of the club in terms of fundraising options and appropriateness; works with the treasure to assure club funds raised are appropriately distributed and accounted for.  

Members at Large
/Team Manager Liaison


Attend all monthly Club meetings; central point of contact for all Team managers; communicate
 all necessary information from Board to Team managers and back.

Other Non-Board Volunteer Opportunities

Equipment Manager (Falls under the Fundraising category): 

Responsible for organizing and distributing uniforms, practice jerseys, warm ups and tournament apparel orders.  Organizes, orders and distributes coaching supplies.

Season Welcome Back Event:

Volunteers needed for our season kick off event. 

Summer Skate Volunteers:

Responsible for collecting money during your levels summer ice skate times. You are not required to commit to the whole summer.  

Development Volunteers:

The club is in need of volunteers to man tables and hand out club information and answer questions of prospective hockey families throughout the year. This typically consists of 5-6 events during the year.

Team Managers:

Handles the day to day affairs of the team. Works with the coach to make sure the team is  communicated with and organized and ready for the season ahead. Please reach out to the head coach of your team if you are interested in being a team manager.

Locker Room Monitors:

Responsible for monitoring the team locker room if the coaches need to step away while the players are still getting ready.

Year End Tournament Coordinator:

Responsible for gathering all team information and being a contact point for the President’s Day Year end tournament.
